The Australia and New Zealand Sleep Science Association (ANZSSA) promotes continuing education and support members in obtaining continuing education credits.
ANZSSA CECs may be awarded for:
Attendance to national, regional, state and local sleep or sleep-related meetings including unbiased manufacturer-sponsored courses
Participation in an approved case conference or in-service programs
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
For an event/course/program to be awarded ANZSSA CECs, the organiser of the event/course/program must complete and submit the online application form with relevant documentation attached to the ANZSSA CEC Committee, a minimum of 2 weeks PRIOR to the scheduled event/course/program commencement date. The outcome of applications will be issued within two weeks.
The ANZSSA CEC Committee will review the application noting the program must:
be at least one hour in duration
include content relevant to the scope of practice of Polysomnography and duties of a sleep scientist/nurse/technologist
be presented by appropriately qualified personnel.

Once a program is approved the organiser will be provided with a CEC approval code, and is expected to keep attendance records, provide attendance certificates and request evaluation of the program by participants.
Event Organisers - Apply for ANZSSA CECs
Members Applying for Certificates of Attendance (Pre-Approved CECs) -
For post event viewing of educational events with pre-approved CECs, please allow two weeks for the certificate of attendance to be issued.
Many members of the Australia and New Zealand Sleep Science Association hold the internationally recognised Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) certification through the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) (a US-based association). To maintain certification, RPSGT are required to achieve 50 CECs every 5 years (or alternatively they can re-sit and pass the BRPT exam).
ANZSSA is a pre-approved CEC provider for the BRPT (however all pre-approved credits are subject to approval by BRPT at the time of an RPSGT Recertification Application). Details for alternative activities for BRPT CECs can be found at https://www.brpt.org/
Many members of ANZSSA are members of the ACCP. Effective 01/07/2022 the ACCP will require members to obtain 20 CPDs per year. Details regarding the variety of activites that meet ACCP CPD criteria can be found at https://theaccp.org.au/
Many members of ANZSSA are members of the CPRB. The CPRB requires members to obtain 18 CPDs over 3 years. Further details regarding the variety of activites and specifics for CPRB CPD criteria can be found at https://cprb.org.nz/i-am-registered/portfolio-guidelines/
ANZSSA Members are able to log and track their ANZSSA approved CECs and other CECs/CPDs via the ANZSSA CPD Module on the ANZSSA website (Members Area). To access the ANZSSA CPD module you must be logged into the ANZSSA website.
